This was the first book we tried from the Tiger Math series.First, there are two “sheets” per lesson. However, the “sheets” are two sided pages, so my kids counted this as 4. While I think this is needed to reinforce these concepts, it is a little misleading.I liked that this reinforces very basic math skills. This particular book starts on lesson 42, I assume this picks up from the lessons in the book before, A-1. This lesson practices identifying numbers 21, 22, 23, and 24. There are a total of 5 different sections/ activities on those two double sided pages. Most of the activities involves writing the number, so the child must be able to write to complete most of this book.As you move through the book, these activities are repeated with different numbers (i.e. 24, 25, 26, 27 or 47, 48, 49, 50). There are one or two more activities to change things up, but that’s it. Once you explain the directions and the child works through one lesson, then the child could probably do the remaining worksheets on their own. The pages are perforated, if removing them is something you need to do. (We just work out of the book.) There is also a place to time the child on the worksheet (which we don’t use). The last page is an “Acheivement Award” that states the child has completed this book.Overall this book does reinforce identifying numbers 21-70, which is difficult to find. The lessons are pretty basic and the overall actives are repeated lesson to lesson so the child can work alone.The reason I rated this four stars is as follows. First, I could not find information to figure out what level of book to buy for my kids. Maybe I missed it, but it would be nice to have a simple chart that showed what each book covers. (UPDATE: There is a chart that shows what each books covers. They have posted it as one of the pictures above.) Second, while I understand that these lessons are to be self guided, the lack of variety makes working in these very bland. We are only a few lessons in and my kids are kind of bored. Third, I would like to see some supplemental activities suggested in the back of the book. Even discussing how to count by tens would be beneficial for this particular volume. Fourth, I wish there were sections within the book of review where different numbers were together. Most of the lessons have the numbers in counting order (ie 1,2,3,etc). I would like to see a lesson every so often that takes the number out of this context. This would make sure the child can identify the number alone and not simply because they are counting. (There are reviews of the week's lessons and numbers covered that week, but so far nothing that has an overall review.) Finally, there was a very obvious error on one of the pages. At this level of math and considering that these activities are “copied and pasted” with minor changes throughout the book, this error is unacceptable. Hopefully future prints will correct this issue.

It's a great teaching method. I purchased it for my 4 year old and I'm happy with her progress in Math with this set of books. I got All four level A Books and plan on purchasing level B next. In addition I use Kumon books to reinforce the skill

This book is a perfect supplement for my 1st grade granddaughter. GOMath is the in thing for teaching math concepts to elementary students and this work book compliments nicely. Love it!

Overall great product, but there are a couple of mistakes in the book. Hopefully that is not the case as the books increase in difficulty.

This was a gift for my grandson who is interested in space. He is thoroughly enjoying all the information and activities it holds.

Wonderful workbook for my son who avoids reading and arithmetic but loves science and the solar system. He's developing skills in reading and math without realizing it because all the worksheets are on subject matter he's really in to.

As the dust jacket of the Science Book says, Clifford Pickover is a prolific author having published more than fifty books. Also, it does not come as a surprise to me that as an inventor, he has received more than five hundred United States patents. I was reminded of his innovation a few months ago when I saw media reports of an invention for using the blockchain system, which forms the foundation of Bitcoin, to manage the security of drone fleets. I was motivated by these reports to go to the original document. Sure enough, Pickover is an inventor of the blockchain drone. Cliff Pickover's Science Book is the thirteenth in the series of Sterling milestones books. Of the previous books, there are three by Pickover: The Math Book, The Physics Book, and The Medical Book. Others in the series include, The Engineering Book, The Space Book, and The Biology Book. For The Science Book, Pickover has selected the best of the milestones of the twelve books.Each book consists of 250 milestones. For each milestone, there is a page of explanation facing a full-page image, which illustrates the milestone. The images have included photos, works of art, computer drawn graphics, and even diagrams taken from U.S. patents. My favorite images in the Science Book are those which include cute animals: the wolf/dog-to-be represents the domestication of animals; a muskrat stands in for Brownian motion because models for muskrat diffusion are said to follow the same rules; and there is, of course, Schrodinger’s Cat.I note that the first 125 milestones, starting in 18,000 BC, take us to 1890, a span of around 20,000 years. The next 125 milestones occur in the next 127 years. Clearly, the pace of science is accelerating. What I wonder about is how can you pick the most important 250 milestones out of the 3000 of the first twelve books. I suppose that you have to have the insight and genius of a Pickover to do it. I think that he has pulled it off.

An OK book for young readers to learn the history of science in a chronological format.Some explanations are missing e.g. on pages 138-139, "Bernoulli's Law of Fluid Dynamics" does not explicitly state that this is why airplane wings create lift and are able to fly, that the airfoil shape makes the air travel faster over the top of the wing and thus creating lift.One comment on page 340 "1929- Hubble's Law of Cosmic Expansion."See also pages 182-183, "1829- Non-Euclidean Geometry," Clifford A. Pickover, which Pickover nails.From my review of the book by Robert Osserman "Poetry of the Universe," which see and buy."This book about the development of non-Euclidean geometry.It is a great book on its subject and a must read, though challenging, (the unreferenced footnotes at the back of the book- which are a great addition- does not help in reading this book), the effort is well worth it.One of the most important ideas contained in this book is on p. 192, which is a footnote to p. 104 in the main text. It is too long quote in full but the jest is:"Taken together with other efforts throughout the 1920's, both observational and theoretical, to try to establish first the reality and second the meaning of de Sitter's 1917 prediction of a redshift-distance relation, they constitute a body of work that makes all the more mysterious the myth of Hubble's sudden discovery of the relation in 1929."Having said that Osserman does not go where Morris Kline goes re: "Non-Euclidean Geometries and Their Significance," which is found in Kline's "Mathematics for the Nonmathematician" and "Mathematics- The Loss of Certainty," et. al., both are recommended.From the front cover piece of "Mathematics- The Loss of Certainty ... refutes the myth that mathematics is a body of unshakable truths about the physical world and that mathematical reasoning is exact and infallible," regarding the significance of the development of Non-Euclidean geometries in the 1800's. "For two thousand years the entire intellectual world accepted the Greek doctrine that the axioms of Euclidean geometry and of mathematics in general, were truths about the physical world, truths so clear and so evident that no one in his (or her) right mind could question them." ("Nonmathematician" p. 452-453).Kline also says: "Gauss had the intellectual courage to create non-Euclidean geometry but not the moral courage to face the mobs, for the scientists of the early nineteenth century lived in the shadow of Kant whose pronouncement that there could be no geometry other than Euclidean geometry ruled the intellectual world. Gauss's work on non-Euclidean geometry was found among his papers after his death." See also: Lobachevski; Bolyai and Riemann.Finally Kline again: "The implication of non-Euclidean geometry, namely, that man may not be able to acquire truths, affects all thought." ("Nonmathematician" p. 476).The point is, Osserman's book is a great exposition on the development non-Euclidean geometry.On pages 128-129 is "1687- Newton's Laws of Motion and Gravitation,"In "Instant Physics," (1995), by Tony Rothman, Ph.D. he presents Newton's Three Laws of Motion in short, single, sentences:1. Law of Inertia: "An object travels at a constant velocity unless acted upon by an outside force," ("The first law addresses the motion of free bodies ...") (from "Space-Time, Relativity, and Cosmology," 2006), by Jose Wudka, page 122, which see):2. F=ma: "The force acting on an object is equal to the product of the object's mass and acceleration," ("the second law states quantitatively how a motion deviates from free motion"):3. "For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction," ("the third law states the effect experienced by a body when exerting a force on another object.")John Wheeler's sentence should also be included: "Matter and energy tell space how to curve and space tells them how to move," is in a lot of books on Gravity."

Pickover allows us to see how the mind of the theoretician, experimentalist, and statistician worked in order to come to the conclusions they did -- and how they changed humanity. I recommend every student or ponderer of science or otherwise have a copy to inspire, remind, and deepen his or her appreciation for these cornerstones of knowledge, and for the method -- Science! -- by which they were laid.

I too am a proud pig owner. My little girl, Precious fell off a slaughter truck that didn't have the door properly shut and she showed up at my front door, beaten up, badly bruised, hobbling with her mouth bleeding profusely. Reading about Esther, who reminds me so much of my girl Precious, brought joy to my heart. Esther's dads are wonderful human beings who took a potentially heart-breaking situation and turned it around into something wonderful. I wish I lived in Ontario so I could pay them all a visit and give them a big hug for all that are doing for animalkind. This storybook, with beautiful illustrations will capture your heart. The message is that families come in all shapes and sizes and are what we make them to be.

I have followed Esther the Wonder Pig since before the farm sanctuary was even a reality so I cannot say enough good things about this book! I even sent them Vegetarian Girl Scout Cookies! It is beautifully and PIGQUISITELY illustrated and written! Perfect for an animal lover of all ages! It does more than teach compassion for animals. It teaches compassion for us all! It is sweet. It is funny. You will pigistively LOVE it!!

If anyone can teach about love, kindness and acceptance-Esther and her dads can! This loving family is a bright and breezy part of my life just about every day and I love them . Esther and her Dads teach without being preachy, love without judgement and gives us a little joy in this crazy , sometimes unfriendly world. Esther forever!

I received my book today, on the day it was released as I pre-ordered it. I follow Esther and her Dad's and all her 2 and 4 legged family on all of my social media. I have read her Dad's first book and I've pre-ordered their second. But this children's book is just wonderful. So full of heart and yes, LOVE. I had originally bought it to give to my grandniece, who is 8. But this copy is staying with me, I will have to purchase a second copy to give to Braylen.My 79 year old mother, who also adores Esther, just read the book as well and insisted that this edition stay here. If you have young ones, buy this for them. If you love animals, buy this for yourself. It will warm your heart on a cold winter's day.

I have been a fan of Esther and her dads before they moved to Happily Ever Esther Farm Sanctuary. The Esther Effect, the message of love for all creatures , is noted by the 1000s around the world who check her FB page daily to see what delightful things are happening with the gang at the sanctuary. I pre ordered the book as a gift for two young friends knowing it would be well done. I am NOT disappointed. It is perfect for reading to little ones,as well as for young readers or any one who loves Esther. The story of Esther and how she impacted the lives of two city guys is heartwarming, and the illustrations beg for little ones to point to the many animals who also live at HEEFS. Discussions about kindness, love, acceptance , non judgement, following your dreams and the joy found will come easily when sharing this book. I am a retired library media specialist and I think it should be in every pre k/elementary library. I am hoping this is the anchor book to a series.

Esther and her dads are truly amazing beings. I pre-ordered the book and was so excited to receive it on the release date! The book is everything and more than I hoped for! I follow Esther and the gang's shenanigans via their FB page. I read this book 3 times the day that I received it. The illustrations are so spot on. I will be ordering this book for every young child - and some adults - that I know. Thank you, dads, for inspiring kindness on a daily basis.

This is a totally darling and delightful book. It's sweet and funny and I am thrilled. The story is fun and the illustrations are truly wonderful.Unfortunately, it arrived bouncing around quite loose in a huge box like a fly in a bottle. There was only one small swath of stiff brown packing paper wadded up and thrown in with it, just enough to catch on the cover and tear it. It was unprotected and the book arrived with a tear in the back cover. Thankfully, Amazon has agreed to replace the damaged copy with a new one, but that was a bone-headed way to ship it. I hope the replacement comes better protected and undamaged.

This is an exquisite children's book with a beautiful theme of unconditional love. I love Esther; I love the Happily Ever Esther Sanctuary; and I love the climate of kindness and compassion that Steve and Derek have created in all their endeavors. I pre-ordered it months ago and was so excited to receive it today.
